Description of the school
General Information
The „Grundschule Neuenkirchen“ is located in Northern Germany in a small village called Neuenkirchen near Bremen in a rural envrionment. It is a so called full-time primary school, that means all children arrive at 8 o’clock in the morning and stay still until 1 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays. Tuesdays and Wednesdays they also have lessons in the afternoon till 3 p.m. On Thursday they can choose optional activities in the afternoon. The pupils have the possibility to eat lunch at school. In each form we have two or three classes and all together we have 170 pupils at our school.
At our school are working 11 teachers, 3 teachers for children with special needs and 5 pedagogic assistants, who can take over classes in the absence of the teacher. They look also after the pupils at lunchtime and during the freetime in the afternoon. Members of our staff are also a secretary and a caretaker.
For the second time in succession we were characterized as a sport-friendly school. We are also working in a project called „Brückenjahr“ that means working together with the Kindergarten to create a bridge between Kindergarten and school. Pupils of the future first grades visit our school twice a month and have lessons or projects together with the pupils of our school.
Since 2011 we have worked in two Comenius projects and one Erasmus+ European project with several European partnerschools.
