Mobility – Austria

13th february- 17th february 2023

About the Mobility

Information and aims

The next trip with the pupils was to Austria. As Austria is known for its beautiful winter landscape, the trip was planned for this time of year. This allowed the children from other countries to experience snow for the first time. The rest of the week was also filled with great and exciting activities.

This group photo was taken in front of the „Dachstein“ glacier. At 2295 metres, this mountain is the highest mountain in Styria. However, climate change is causing an enormous glacier retreat. The children should realise this and experience it directly.

Our Programm

All this happened

On the first day, we were greeted with a wonderful welcome party and the children tried some special dances of Austria.

The children made a bath bomb and other natural cosmetics using local natural materials.

The biological process of metamorphosis was explained with the help of LegoWeDo. The children built a frog out of Lego bricks and then programmed it so that it could move.
The guided tour of the monastary of Vorau was very interesting for the children. The church and the library were very impressive.
The children were able to move freely on the glacier and enjoy the snow. It was a great hike at an altitude of almost 3000 metres.
The suspension bridge was also a spectacular experience, with many children reaching the other side of the mountain.
The staircase to nowhere was also not for the faint-hearted. The glass floor gave the children a clear view down. It was great. Every child dared to go to the front to take a photo.
The ice palace was also a great experience. The children walked through underground ice corridors and were able to see a life made of ice and many ice sculptures.
The next day, it was time for a city tour of Graz. We walked across the Mur Island.

The clock tower was also a highlight of the Graz Day. It offered a great view of the city and the tour of the tower was very interesting.
The toboggan ride was great fun for the children. They were able to ride down a whole mountain on sledges or bobsleds.
The Wildwiesen observation tower was a great experience for the children. The many steps led up to a viewing platform where a head for heights was required.
